GDA Member Honored by Macon Volunteer Clinic
GDA member Dr. G. Richard Mixon is one of our many members doing amazing work across the state.
We love to share good news about our member's generosity! From the Macon Volunteer Clinic:
Macon Volunteer Clinic (MVC) is a nonprofit organization that provides free health care to the working uninsured people of Macon and Bibb County. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend hours, and relies on a diverse group of licensed and non-licensed volunteers to gift their time and professional skills to keep the clinic doors open.
Each quarter, the clinic highlights one of its many volunteers to honor their service to the community and to recognize their time gifted and talents shared with MVC patients. The featured volunteer this quarter is a dentist, Dr. G. Richard Mixon, who continues to provide oral health care to clinic patients each week.
Dr. Mixon has volunteered at the Macon Volunteer Clinic for almost 5 years while continuing a 35-year career at Mixon Family Dentistry, a family owned and operated dental office in Macon.
When asked why he continues to volunteer at the clinic, Dr. Mixon responded with, "This is a way I can give back through a profession that has blessed me through the years. I am honored to serve a community of patients that typically fall through the cracks; the need is great, and I am thankful for this vehicle in which I am able to serve them."
