Member Alert: January and February LAW Days Cancelled

Jan 24, 2022
Due to the current uncertainty over the latest wave of COVID-19, and procedures within the Georgia Capitol Building, the Georgia Dental Association leadership has made the difficult decision to cancel the LAW Days scheduled for January and February 2022. The dates currently being cancelled are:

January 26 – Northern/Eastern District
February 2 – Southwestern, Western, Northern (Hall County)
February 9 – Central

While no formal announcement regarding the attendance of large outside groups has been made by either the House or Senate, the GDA Government Affairs team has been in communication with leadership in both chambers and they have expressed their concern over the Omicron Variant and strong reluctance towards large groups at the Capitol this session. The Government Affairs team has also consulted other associations as to their plans and found that most are not holding events in the Capitol out of an abundance of caution. It is also important to note that just as in the previous two sessions direct access to legislators “on the ropes” is not available outside the House chamber and extremely limited, with no pages, outside the Senate chamber.

No decision has been made regarding the 2022 LAW Days scheduled for March 2022 at this time. We are hopeful that we may have the opportunity to combine districts whose LAW Days were cancelled into larger events on these remaining dates. The GDA staff will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates on the remaining scheduled LAW Days. As always, thank you for your continued interest in and support of the GDA’s advocacy work.
